Retreat in nature
About us

Our aim & vision

A space to return to nature, to others and to yourself.

Aloe Retreats was born from the belief that our wellbeing and the wellbeing of the planet are inseparable. In everything we do, we strive to inspire a conscious lifestyle, where we take care of and learn from nature and the communities around us.

We create immersive retreats where you can step out of the noise of everyday life and reconnect with yourself, with others and with the ecosystem around you.

Through movement, breath and our senses, we connect body and mind to live in the present moment.

We choose regenerative agriculture and partner with local organic farms or those who host us on their land, so every meal is local, seasonal and grown with care for the soil. Guided by the principles of Ayurveda and inspired by Mediterranean roots, our menus are designed to balance and nourish body and mind.

And at the heart of it all, is the community that comes alive every time: in just a few days strangers form bonds that are strong, meaningful and often transformative.

Biki

E-RYT 200, RYT 600 / Yoga Teacher Trainer At SPANDA INSTITUTE

Sixteen years of traveling, studying and working around the world, and half a year in India led me to deepen my practice in Yoga, Ayurveda, Kalari and therapeutic yoga for children with special needs. With a background in human rights and environmental justice, I create retreats to bring people together in nature: to move, eat healthy and reconnect. For every retreat I partner with amazing beings: facilitators, artists, chefs and farmers, so each gathering is unique and carries its own magic.

What we stand for

Our values

Everything we do is grounded in care; for the land that hosts us and the communities we are part of.

Ecology

We see ourselves as part of the ecosystem, not apart from it, and let the intelligence of nature guide our choices

Sustainability

From sourcing to waste, we make the low-impact choice, constantly learning how to do better with less.

Regeneration

We source from farms km0 that give back to the land, rebuilding soil, biodiversity and the ecosystems that sustain us.

Community

We are guests of the land and its people. We support partners who inspire us, share our values and preserve the planet.

Portugal

Sintra & Ericeira (Atlantic Coast)

6–10 May 2027
5 days · 4 nights

Wild Atlantic coast between Sintra's forested hills and Ericeira's surf beaches: cliffs, ocean views, forest trails and sustainable living.

Join this retreat

The place

A secluded home in nature in the Sintra hills, a 45-minute walk through the wild from the beach. It sits within one of Portugal's most biodiverse ecosystems: a meeting point of lush forest and Atlantic coastline, rich in native plants, birdlife and stillness.

The days

Morning yoga and evening restorative practices, nourishing meals, forest walks through the enchanted woods of Sintra, coastal hikes to Praia da Ursa, Praia da Adraga and Cabo da Roca, surfing in Magoito and Ericeira, workshops and sunsets over the ocean await.

Special Activities

Our Portugal retreat includes:

- Somatic Yoga
A somatic movement workshop to deepen body awareness and presence

- Cacao Ceremony and dance
Inspired by the traditions of the old Central and South American civilizations, we use ceremonial cacao directly sourced from Peru.

- Massage Workshop
An Ayurvedic face massage workshop with practical techniques for care and relaxation

- Walks on secluded beaches
Quiet beaches tucked beneath the cliffs, reached on foot through nature, far from the crowds.

- Hiking on the coastline
Cliff-top trails to Praia da Ursa, Praia da Adraga and Cabo da Roca, with sweeping views over the Atlantic.

- Surfing (Optional)
Surf sessions in Magoito and the Ericeira area, for beginners and those who already ride.

- Temazcal (Optional)
A traditional sweat lodge ceremony with roots in ancient Mesoamerica, to purify body and mind.

Your Co-Host: Sina

E-RYT 200

Sina is an E-RYT certified yoga teacher who has been sharing her practice in studios across Germany and along her travels since 2022. Through workshops, trainings, and personal exploration, she continues to deepen her understanding of Ayurveda and somatic movement. In an increasingly fast-paced world, she feels a growing appreciation for the space yoga creates to slow down, turn inward, and reconnect with ourselves. She loves sharing this passion and creating spaces where others can do the same.
Sri Lanka

Kahandamodara Beach

23–29 January 2027
7 days · 6 nights

14 acres of reforested land: a secluded ecolodge, lush vegetation, river estuary, birds and a quiet white-sand palm beach.

Join this retreat

The place

Back of Beyond Kahandamodara is a regenerative eco-lodge set within a reforested landscape of endemic trees, butterfly gardens, fruit orchards, medicinal plants and native wildlife. Powered entirely by solar energy and growing much of its own produce, it offers a close connection to nature and a thoughtful example of living in harmony with the land.

The days

Morning yoga in a Shala surrounded by nature, Sri Lankan and Ayurvedic meals, swims and beach walks, exploration, workshops and much more awaits.

Special activities

Our Sri Lanka retreat includes some very special experiences:

- Udawalawe National Park
A safari into one of Sri Lanka's quieter, more respectful wildlife sanctuaries. Chosen for its culture of animal welfare, it is home to wild elephant herds, water buffalo, crocodiles and hundreds of bird species. An intimate encounter with extraordinary biodiversity.

- Sunset boat ride on Kalametiya Lagoon
Glide through one of Sri Lanka's most pristine coastal wetlands as the sun descends into the horizon. A protected bird sanctuary and mangrove ecosystem, Kalametiya is a place of rare stillness: flamingos, painted storks and kingfishers gathering at dusk.

- Mulkirigala Rock Temple
Ancient cave shrines carved into dramatic granite boulders rising from the jungle. Climb through reclining Buddhas and intricate frescoes to reach a summit with sweeping views over the southern landscape. A window into 2000 years of Buddhist culture and devotion.

- Sri Lankan Ayurvedic cooking class
Discover the deep connection between food and medicine through the lens of Ayurveda and Sri Lankan culinary tradition. Learn to cook ancient recipes with fresh local spices understanding how each ingredient nourishes the body.

Ayurvedic treatments

The lodge offers an Ayurvedic Wellness Center with facilities for Ayurvedic treatments. Doctor consultations, massages, sweat lodges and therapies can be booked separately.

Getting there

Flying to Colombo, the lodge is about 2.5 hours drive or 4 hours train away. We offer transfers or help you coordinate with others to share the ride.

Weather

January is the dry, sunny season on Sri Lanka’s south coast, bringing warm days and plenty of sunshine.
